If the home did not receive a deep cleaning prior to the purchase you may want to have carpets professionally cleaned. Most homeowners have pets, children, grandchildren, and even adults can make a mess and an occasional stain on the carpet will probably be there. Checking the vents and adding new filters so that you know exactly when it is done and you can add it to your calendar to maintain clean air.
Feeling safe inside your new home will be a much needed priority as you begin to move in. There are a number of locks to choose from that will look great and help keep your family and valuables protected. Some homeowners will probably consider adding a new security system and these can allow for online monitoring, smartphone capabilities, and thermostat control. Start out feeling secure in your new home and take the time to change out those old locks.
Call the exterminator and have them come out and check the home for any pest that you probably didn’t see during the showing. The sooner you can get someone out the better off you will be ahead of moving in. Getting a jump start on potential pest that may be in the house will really help prevent them from finding places to hide...like in your belongings.
Remove Toilet Seats
Just throw out the old toilet seat and go pick out one that is more your own taste. Once you remove the old toilet seat you can really clean out the grime that hides under the bolts and hinges. If you really don’t feel like cleaning the throne just get a new one after all it is your new home and your free to make it yours however you wish.
If you are planning to paint some of the rooms doing so ahead of the move in would be the perfect time to do so. A home with no furniture inside yet makes it a whole lot easier to get the home painted without ruining your belongings. Once you have the top things done on your list you are ready to move in and enjoy your fresh clean home.
